The Madras High Court on Wednesday posted for further hearing on April 10 a writ petition by the DMK for a directive to the EC not to permit K. Ramanujam to hold the post of DGP as the administrative head of the Tamil Nadu police till the completion of the Lok Sabha elections.
The petition had been filed by the party’s organising secretary, T.K.S. Elangovan, who is also the candidate for South Chennai.
The petition said Mr. Anoop Jaiswal was appointed as the DGP, Elections, on April 5.
The continuation of Mr. Ramanujam as the administrative head would create more confusion since there would be two DGPs.
