DMK plans protest meeting

October 21, 2009 08:23 pm | Updated December 17, 2016 05:01 am IST - CHENNAI:

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will hold a “massive public meeting” in Madurai on November 1 to condemn the manner in which a Union Minister of State [Jairam Ramesh] conducted himself on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue.

DMK president and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will participate in the meeting. Later, more details will be announced, according to a press release issued by the DMK headquarters.

The release, however, did not mention the name of the Union Minister.

In an interview to The Hindu a few weeks ago, Mr. Karunanidhi attacked the Union Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh for giving the nod to the Kerala government to carry out a survey for a new Mullaperiyar dam.
