DMK: no differences with Congress on PAC report

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam parliamentarian Adhi Sankar on Wednesday said the party was working in tandem with the Congress on the Public Accounts Committee, denying reports that suggested that the DMK and the Congress had differences over the contentious draft report on the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

In a statement here, Mr. Adhi Sankar, who has been included in the PAC recently, said that at Tuesday's meeting of the committee, a majority of its members, including those from the Congress and the DMK, objected to Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi's attempt to have the draft report taken up for consideration again. “We contended that a report that has been rejected by the majority of its members should not be placed before the PAC again,” the MP said.

Adjourned

“I participated in the discussion and said the draft report had been rejected by the previous PAC, but as there are new members, including myself, copies should be given to us. Newly inducted Congress members also echoed this view. Thereafter, the meeting was adjourned without any decision,” Mr. Adhi Sankar said.

“Some media reports say the DMK and the Congress have different views. I wish to clarify that in discussions in the PAC on the 2G spectrum issue, the DMK will work with the Congress and share the same views,” he added.
