A Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for threatening an AIADMK cadre.
According to prosecution, a team of officials from the Tirunelveli Corporation inspected the house of former office-bearer of DMK’s youth wing ‘Rohini’ Narayanan to check for an illegal drinking water connection in 2012 and disconnected it.
As the raid was conducted at Narayaanan’s house based on the complaint from one Shanmuga Kumar, an AIADMK cadre from the same area, Narayanan and his associates Chellappa and Narayanan allegedly threatened him.
As Narayanan allegedly aimed his pistol at Shanmuga Kumar and threatened him, he filed a complaint with the police.
District Second Additional Sessions Judge Dhanaksekaran, while acquitting Chellappa and Narayanan, awarded six months imprisonment to ‘Rohini’ Narayanan on Tuesday evening.
On producing surety documents, he was granted bail and allowed to go for an appeal against this sentence.
