Hardening its stand, the DMK on Wednesday termed as ‘wrong’ External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid’s Sri Lankan visit to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), saying Tamil people’s sentiments should not be ignored in this matter.

Asked about Mr Khurshid’s visit to Colombo despite the Tamil Nadu Assembly twice adopting resolutions seeking India’s complete boycott of the multi-country summit, party chief M Karunanidhi said, “My opinion is that it (Khurshid’s visit) is wrong… My stand is that the Centre should not ignore sentiments of Tamil people like this,” he told reporters in Chennai.

While welcoming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s decision to stay away from the summit beginning on November 15, Mr Karunanidhi had, however, said the decision to depute a delegation led by Khurshid was ‘debatable’.
