DMK MP Kanimozhi on Sunday said social justice can be protected only if the DMK alliance, led by party president M. Karunanidhi, wins all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing the party’s conference, she duly acknowledged the role of party treasurer and her half brother M.K. Stalin’s role, saying that his guidance was equally important in achieving the task.
She alleged that the ruling AIADMK has always been against reservation since the days of its founder MGR, who gave up his plans to introduce economic criterion only after his party was defeated in the Lok Sabha polls.
Ms. Kanimozhi said the “permanent” rivalry between the DMK and the AIADMK as described by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was to protect reservation.
“The AIADMK has voted against the Mandal Commission recommendation seeking to provide reservation to MBCs. The AIADMK will deprive our children of their rights to education and employment,” she said.
Another MP Dayanidhi Maran said the crowd present at conference was a clear proof that the DMK alliance would sweep the LS polls. “The dream of Ms. Jayalalithaa to become the Prime Minister will not be realised,” he said.
