Attacking both the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for not ensuring the welfare of the Tamil people, leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam Vijayakant has urged the voters to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party as it is a vote to ensure the right and welfare of Tamil people.

Canvassing votes for BJP candidate in Kanyakumari Lok Sabha Constituency Pon. Radhakrishnan on Friday, he said that AIADMK had failed to keep its promise to solve various issues, particularly, the power crisis. The people as well as farmers were subjected to nine hours of power cut in Thanjavur district. Similar was the case in others districts also. Moreover, DMK had also failed to ensure the public welfare. But, both parties come with a bag full of promises during election and after getting the votes they will vanish and re-appear in the next election.

But the DMDK wants to work for the betterment of Tamil people and hence forged an alliance with National Democratic Alliance.

Pointing out at the lack of infrastructure facilities for the development of this district he said that successive Governments, both DMK and AIADMK had failed to renovate Anantha Victoria Marthanda Varma canal and commercial harbour at Colachel for the benefit of the fishermen. It has failed to set up rubber-related factories or research centres. Instead, the Government had notified 76,000 acres of rubber plantation under Preservation of Tamil Nadu Private Forest Act. This has resulted in unemployment in the district, said Mr.Vijayakant.

The BJP candidate, Pon.Radhakrishnan could not attend the election campaign as he was busy with party activities in Chennai and it was conveyed to the DMDK leader over the phone.

DMDK Chief Vijayakant has appealed to the people to skip DMK and AIADMK in the upcoming polls and cast their votes for the DMDK candidate contesting from Tirunelveli Lok Sabha constituency. While campaigning in Tirunelveli Town for candidates of political parties in alliance with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) here on Friday evening, he said both Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and DMK President M. Karunanidhi never bothered about the welfare of the people and development of Tamil Nadu during their tenures.

Lashing out at the AIADMK regime, he said the people had been languishing under frequent power cuts and the whole State was left in the dark.
