After completing interview with aspiring candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) is preparing itself for meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday.

All the 22 MLAs, including party leader Vijayakant, his wife Premalatha, youth wing leader L.K. Sutheesh and treasurer Elangovan will leave Chennai on Thursday night. “The meeting is only a ruse to firm up an alliance with the Congress. Besides meeting the Prime Minister, Mr. Vijayakant and a few others will meet senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, who is in touch with the DMDK leadership,” said Congress source.

According to DMDK sources, the party has received applications from over 1,700 candidates and 90 per cent of them expressed their desire to have an alliance during the interview.
