The Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) will support the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance in the Lok Sabha election, its president K. Veeramani said here on Sunday.

He told presspersons that a resolution to this effect was adopted at the general council meeting of the party held here on Sunday. Mr. Veeramani said the DMK alliance is a truly secular, principled and democratic alliance that will fight for social justice. The United Progressive Alliance government had failed to check price rise and because of the wrong policies, the Congress has been isolated in the country. Exploiting the situation, the “communal BJP” is trying to come to power, he said.

He also accused the AIADMK of adopting double standards on the Sri Lanka Tamils issue. In such a situation, the DMK-led alliance with Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), Puthiya Thamizhagam is the right choice for people to vote, he said.

The DK also demanded that the Staff Selection Commission exam be conducted in Tamil in the State and urged the State government not to stall the Sethusamudram project.
