Discharged prisoners share their experience

Discharged prisoners shared their experience in rehabilitation while participating in the Republic Day celebrations organised by the Discharged Prisoners Aid Society (DPAS) at its office here on Monday.

Karthik, Kumaravel, Prabhu, Manikandan Perumal and Maran, discharged prisoners, said that they were running self-employment ventures successfully thanks to the financial assistance of Rs.25,000 provided by the DPAS on the recommendation of the District Collector and president of the Society. “At a time when we were worried about our future after our discharge from the prison, the DPAS came to our rescue and helped in our rehabilitation”, they said with gratitude. They appealed to the inmates of the Central Prison here to reform themselves so that they can get the help of DPAS for their rehabilitation.

T.M. Vijayaraghavalu, Senior Advocate and vice-president of the DPAS hoisted the national flag in the presence of S.N. Janardhanan, secretary and R. Srinivasan, treasurer of DPAS.

V. Karuppannan, Superintendent, Central Prison, Vellore hoisted the national flag at the Republic Day celebrations held at the prison premises under the presidentship of V.M. Mohammed Haneefa, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Vellore.
