Ketti Valley came alive on Friday with the Automobile Engineering students of the CSI College of Engineering putting their routine on the back burner and organising a dirt track race in honour of their field of study.

Christened ‘Dirt Mania’ the event featured races for both two-wheelers and jeeps. Thanks to overnight rains and an overcast sky the conditions were ideal for such an event. The participants were from various parts of Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Vintage vehicles

A display of vintage vehicles formed part of the event which was inaugurated by Shankar Sarath Kumar, a professional motorcycle road racer. Going beyond the expectations of the organisers the event turned out to be very exciting. Weaving through a ‘dirt track’ laid out for the event, the motorcyclists numbering about 40 and many four wheel racers exhibited riding skills of a high order.
