Directive on alterative documents to cast vote

The Election Commission has directed that all voters who have been issued Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) have to produce it at the polling station on May 16 to cast their vote.

In a press release from District Election Officer and Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy, he said that electors who did not have EPIC can produce any one of the 11 following documents and vote. It includes, passport, driving licence, service identity cards with photograph issued to employees by Central / State government PSUs / public limited companies, passbooks with photograph issued by bank / post office, PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA job card, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, pension document with photograph, authenticated photo voter slip issued by the election machinery and official identity cards to MPs / MLAs / MLCs.
