July 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:16 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

A special police team arrested a youth from Dindigul district for allegedly harassing and threatening a girl over phone.

Police said that M. Kalidas (25) from Sanarpatti in Dindigul district befriended a girl from a village near Krishnapuram after she received a ‘missed call’ from him recently. When she started receiving frequent phone calls from him, she stopped talking to him.

Agitated over this, Kalidas, who had already received the girl’s photographs through WhatsApp, threatened to morph her pictures and post it on Facebook if she spurned his love. Following a complaint from the victim, police formed a special team that arrested Kalidas on Friday from his native place.

Superintendent of Police V. Vikraman has warned that those who harass women through mobile phones or social media would face serious consequences.
