Diesel price hike should be rolled back: says Vaiko

July 03, 2013 09:54 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:32 pm IST - CHENNAI

The Union government should withdraw the diesel price hike, MDMK general secretary Vaiko said on Tuesday.

In a statement here, Mr Vaiko said increase in the diesel price would have a cascading effect. Hike in diesel price would result in increased production cost in electricity generating units. The fertilizer industry would be affected. Already, in the last three years prices of fertiliser and urea had been increased by 300 per cent. Due to this the agriculturists would be affected badly.

Terming the price hike as anti-people, Mr Vaiko condemned the move and demanded that the Centre should withdraw the price hike as well as revising the fuel price very often.
