Dharmapuri rape accused detained under Goondas Act

The 20-year-old was allegedly raped by three youths and four others relieved her of her belongings at an isolated place in a Reserve Forest close to Boothanatham.

Six out of seven persons arrested in connection with the rape of a girl near Pappireddipatti in the district earlier this month were detained under the Goondas Act on Monday.

The 20-year-old was allegedly raped by three youths and four others relieved her of her belongings at an isolated place in a Reserve Forest close to Boothanatham on December 17.

Collector K. Vivekanandan signed an order to detain the accused under Goondas Act as per the recommendation of Superintendent of Police Asra Garg, according to an official release.

The detention order was served on the accused - S. Prabu alias Gowtham (24), M. Sampathkumar alias Veerappan (28), M. Prabu (28), V. Ramesh (24), R. Abimannan alias Tamizh (28) and M. Sivakumar (24) - at the Salem Central Prison.
