Hundreds of devotees from neighbouring districts brought water from the Cauvey river from Kodumudi in Erode district in ‘kavadis’ for performing abishekam to the main deity of Sri Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple here on Sunday.
Devotees from Kerala arrived in large numbers on the second day of the 10-day Panguni Uthiram festival. Sufficient police force was deployed at the temple.
The celestial wedding will be performed between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Thula lagnam on April 2 and Panguni Uthiram car procession at 4 p.m. on April 3.
The car procession will start from Sri Padha Vinayagar Temple at Malai Adivaram and reach Nadai after passing through four Giri veedhis. The firecracker festival will be organised near Vaiyapuri Temple tank on April 4. Cultural programmes will take place at Kudamuzhukku Mandapam near Malai Adivaram during the festival days.
Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation will operate additional buses to the temple town from Dindigul and neighbouring districts.
