A Polur based bootlegger has been detained under the Goondas Act.

Elumalai (40), belonging to U.S. Pillayar Koil Street in Polur, has served thrice in jail on the charges of selling illicit arrack. Since he was arrested recently on the charges of selling arrack again, Superintendent of Police J. Mutharasi recommended for his detention under the Goondas Act and Collector A. Gnanasekaran ordered his detention a few days ago. Subsequently he was lodged in the Vellore Central Prison. — Staff Reporter
