‘Dengue cases have come down in Tiruvannamalai’

Municipality carrying out full-fledged prevention work, says Collector

Collector K. S. Kandasamy on Saturday said the number of dengue cases have decreased, and have been brought under control in Tiruvannamalai district.

According to a press release, he said, at present, 19 patients were admitted to the government hospital and were undergoing treatment for dengue. In Tiruvannamalai district, dengue prevention works were going on at the municipality, town panchayats and village panchayats every day from early morning to forenoon.

He added that the dengue prevention works were being intensified across the district from Saturday by involving more number of workers. They would carry out the work from morning till evening.

In Tiruvannamalai municipality, 10 wards would be covered on each day for the next four days. A total of 500 workers would carry out dengue prevention works, he said.

On Saturday, the Collector kick-started the works at Tiruvannamalai Town Hall Municipal Middle School. Each ward was covered by 50 workers - 12 mazdoors, 30 women self-help group members, four municipal workers and two workers who would take up mosquito repellent spraying works. They covered houses, commercial establishments and government offices in these 10 wards from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Medical camp was organised at five anganwadi centres in the 10 wards. A five-member team comprising doctors and nurses conducted the medical camp, the release said.
