Condemning the delay in distribution of freebies, villagers picketed the Village Administrative Office in Mallasumudram here on Friday.
About 4,800 beneficiaries are selected in Mugam village in Tiruchengode Taluk for receiving the State government’s freebies.

Tokens were also distributed to the villagers. However, many villagers complained that their names were missing from the list. When villagers took up the issue with VAO Amudha, she did not respond properly for the past seven days.
Hence, angered by it villagers picketed the office on Friday.
On receiving information, S. Surya Prakash, Deputy Collector, visited the office and held talks with the villagers.
Withdrawn
He assured that all green ration card holders who were getting rice will get the freebies without fail. Later, the protest was withdrawn.
Villagers said that despite government ordered that freebies be distributed to them, due to the lethargies of revenue officials there was total confusion in the beneficiary list. “Even a person who died 10 years ago was mentioned as beneficiary in the list while many persons name who are alive are missing”, they added.
