Two defamation cases were filed by government on Friday against DMK president M. Karunanidhi and S. Selvam, printer, publisher and editor of Murasoli , Tamil daily, for having published articles allegedly defaming Ministers N.R. Sivapathy and K.T. Pachamal.

In the complaints in the Principal Sessions Court, the City Public Prosecutor said the daily published its ‘Kalaignar Pathilgal’ on August 23 in which Mr. Karunanidhi, answering a question on an Ananda Vikatan’s article on Ministers’ performance, said some of the Ministers in the Cabinet were in the hands of their relatives.

The complainant said “such a statement is libellous.”
