Decision on alliance likely at DMDK conference

January 05, 2011 11:57 pm | Updated 11:57 pm IST - SALEM:

Many vital decisions, including the party's stand on alliance for the Assembly elections, may be taken at the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam's People's Rights Retrieval Conference here on January 9.

Turning point

Party founder and actor Vijayakant, according to his wife and women's wing leader Premalatha, will consult the cadre before announcing the decision on alliance at the conference. After inspecting work at the venue, she said that after the 2005 Madurai conference, the present one at Salem would be a turning point for not only the DMDK but also Tamil Nadu politics.

The conference would be a prelude to a “change in the State,” and would pave the way for emancipation of Tamils who “are languishing in darkness at present.”

The massive podium of the one-day conference is coming up in Veerasamy Pudur village.
