The district administration has set April 20 as deadline for Sakthi Sugar Mills at Aapakoodal to settle the balance dues to farmers.
The industry has so far paid Rs. 16 crore out of the outstanding Rs. 21 crore. The remaining amount will be settled before the deadline, officials assured farmers on Friday during the farmers’ grievance redress day meeting.
Speaking on behalf of the sugarcane suppliers to the mill, their representative Chenniappan wanted the district administration to ensure that the supply of sugarcane is diverted to the nearest Government Cooperative Mill if the balance amount is not settled in time. The request will be considered if the need arose, District Revenue Officer R. Satheesh said.
