Damaged buses

April 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST

I recently travelled by route No. 13 B TNSTC city bus from Salem Junction to Old Bus stand. I was shocked to notice a portion of the inside roof in a damaged condition. It may fall on the passengers at any time. I request the TNSTC Salem division to ensure that all its buses are in perfect condition and withdraw all the damaged buses.

Road re-laying

The Junction main road was recently re-laid and I thank the Salem Corporation for the same.

However, the road re-laying work was taken up on the day time, which led to traffic congestion and frequent traffic bottlenecks on this ever busy road.

The Corporation will do well if it executed such works during the night hours.

Fix reflectors

on median

There is no proper lighting on the Moonru road area, despite being in the heart of Salem city.

Moreover, the absence of reflectors on the median on the road stretch from Moonru junction to Suramangalam junction is posing a lot of hardship to the vehicle users during the night hours.

The worst hit are the two-wheeler riders.

I request the highways and police to affix reflectors on the median here without any delay.

Delay in

underpass work

The inordinate delay in the construction of the underpass near Salem Railway Junction is posing lot of hardship to the people proceeding to Old Suramangalam.

The Railways is well known in completing its projects in time. The Salem Division should speed up the works and complete it without any delay.

Traffic hit

The vegetable traders have put up roadside stalls on both sides of the road in the vicinity of the Uzhavar Santhai at Thadagapatti in Salem city. This affects the free flow of traffic. The Corporation authorities should remove all the encroachments on this road immediately.

Speed up road work

The work of relaying the Pappapatti – Kadayampatti in Idanganasalai town panchayat in Salem district is progressing at a snail’s space. Even after many days of spreading the crushed stones on the road, tar-topping has not been done so far. This caused much hardship to the local people.

Moreover, the annual festival in the local temple in Pappapatti is fast approaching.

I request the concerned authorities to complete the road relaying work on a war-footing.

M. S. Mathivanan,

Awareness rallies

Awareness rallies involving the students are on the increase in Namakkal town. I don’t think they serve any purpose, except leading to traffic bottlenecks on the busy thoroughfares during peak hours.

The police should not accord permission for such awareness rallies.

P. Banumathi,

Namakkal.

Passport camp

I thank the Regional Passport Officer for organising special Passport camp for two days on March 28 and 29 in Salem city. This was very beneficial to the new applicants. I request similar camp in Namakkal town too.

K. Lakhmi,

Namakkal.

Laudable effort

I welcome the police – public interaction meeting organised by G. Subbulakshmi, Superintendent of Police, in Sankagiri and Attur recently. Such meetings will help in removing the misunderstanding about the police among the common public and bring close rapport with each other. Moreover, the action taken on the petitions presented by the public at such meetings should be informed to them in due course.

K. Kanagasundaram,

Sankagiri.

Potholes

Potholes have started appearing on the concrete roads in Dharmapuri municipal limits due to frequent digging of roads for laying water pipelines etc. The departments and the private concerns which dig the roads, fail to close the same after completing the works. The Dharmapuri municipality should take steps for closing all the potholes immediately.

P. Puthiyavan,

Dharmapuri.

Camp timing

The Postal Department has recently introduced a special savings scheme exclusively for the girls. It conducted special camps at different post offices for mobilising the accounts. All these camps were conducted during the working hours. The working people have to apply for at least half-a-day leave for opening this account. The Postal Department on such occasions should keep the special counters open from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. which will immensely benefit the office-goers.

K. Parthiban,

Attur.
