It probably was on a farm visit and wouldn't have ever wanted the frenzy that was in air when Govindasamy, a farmer, found the crocodile in his field in P. Mettupalayam village near Kavunthapadi.
It was a rare sight for Govindasamy, who found the two-and-a-half-feet long reptile wriggling in the mud on Tuesday evening, and alerted other farmers.
The farmers then gathered together the labourers working in the fields, and with their help, captured the reptile and handed it over to police and forest personnel.
A team of forest staff led by Forest Ranger G. Palanisamy rushed to the spot and rescued the crocodile. Forest sources said the reptile would be released either in the Hogenakkal or the Amaravath crocodile farm.
