Workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and its front organisations staged a novel protest by rolling over bad roads to highlight the need to repair them at Kankudutha Vanitham near here on Monday.

The protesters demanded that the Kankudutha Vanitham-Vennavasal Road, Kavalakudi-Athikadai Road and the Kavalakudi bridge be renovated and repaired immediately to prevent loss of life and limbs. To bring that to the notice of the officials, they said that they were rolling over the road.

Tamil Nadu Vivasaya Thozhilalar Sangam union secretary Marudaiyan, Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam union secretary Srinivasan, and Sugar Cane Growers’ Association district secretary Thambusamy participated in the protest.
