The three-member MLA team of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by K.Balakrishnan, that visited the riot-torn Dalit habitations at Kattayan Theru and Kazhikuppam in Marakkanam block on Sunday, has blamed the Pattali Makkal Katchi for the violence.

The State Government should stop acting as a silent spectator to the mindless violence unleashed by the PMK supporters and take stringent action against those who indulged in violence, said the team comprising K.Ramamurthi of Vikkiravandi Assembly constituency and G.Beema Rao of Maduravoyal constituency, besides Mr. Balakrishnan of Chidambaram constituency and few other local party leaders.

Mr. Balakrishnan told The Hindu that the district administration too acted in a lethargic manner.
