The State unit of the CPI(M) will indicate its stand on the by-election to Pennagaram Assembly constituency only after the date for the election is announced, said senior leaders of the party.

Asked about the CPI’s decision to support the AIADMK candidate, CPI (M) leaders said they were not in a hurry to take a decision as the date was not yet announced.

They confirmed that PMK leader S. Ramadoss had written to them seeking support for his party.

As regards joint action with the CPI and the AIADMK to highlight the law and order situation and land grabbing incidents in the State, the CPI (M) leaders explained that they had not committed themselves to the action plan so far.

“We will discuss the issues and take a final decision,” they said.
