Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemned the act of making students to participate in a mini marathon conducted to celebrate the birthday of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa.

The marathon was organised by AIADMK party here on Wednesday and hundreds of students participated in it.

M.Sivakumar, district secretary of CPI(M), in a statement day said hundreds of students from government and private schools were ordered to participate in the marathon.

“The marathon began from Kamaraj statue in the morning and ended in Anna Arch. Government machinery has been misused to make students participate in the event. This is condemnable,” the CPI(M) leader said.
