CPI(M), BJP offices attacked

BJP observes dawn-to-dusk hartal at Koodali

March 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - KANNUR:

Offices of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came under attack at Eachur under the Chakkarakkal police station limits and nearby Koodali in the early hours of Tuesday.

Fresh outbreak of tension in the area, 12 days after an all-party peace meeting held here in the presence of Agricultural Minister K.P. Mohanan, revived fears about escalation of violence.

The trouble started around 1.30 a.m. when a group of alleged BJP workers attacked the Lenin Centre at Kottam in Eachur which housed the local office of the CPI(M). Two windowpanes were broken in the attack by attackers who reached the spot on motorcycles, the police said.
