CPI (M) deliberation ahead of Kolkata plenum begins

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State committee's deliberations on overall organisational functioning ahead of the party’s plenum scheduled to held at Kolkata later this month, commenced here on Tuesday.

Three-day discussions

Party sources said the discussions, spread over three days, would focus on the draft document prepared by the Central Committee of the party for the Kolkata Plenum with regard to the functioning of the party.

Suggestions for strengthening the party that need to be deliberated ahead of the plenum were obtained, sources added.

G. Ramakrishnan, party State secretary, addressed an audience comprising 141 people including 90 committee members and 51 invitees.

Prakash Karat, former general secretary of the party, and senior leaders like U. Vasuki, P. Sampath and K. Varadarajan, among others, were present.

Sitaram Yetchury, party general secretary, would be attending the meeting on Wednesday.

It will focus on the draft document prepared by the Central Committee of the party
