The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the State government to submit on Thursday the report of the Prison Advisory Board on the plea for premature release of Nalini, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

When the appeal challenging a single Judge's order of September 2008 regarding the premature release came up for hearing before the Bench comprising Justice Elipe Dharma Rao and Justice K.K.Sasidharan on Wednesday, Government advocate G.Desingu said the government had just received the report and sought time to study it.

The judges however, refused to grant time saying the matter had been adjourned many times. Advocate General P.S.Raman sought permission to submit the report in a sealed cover for the perusal of the judges. The court granted the permission to do so.

The Bench rejected a plea from senior counsel appearing for appellant Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy to stay the proceedings of the State government based on the report.
