The Madras High Court on Friday granted interim stay until further orders restraining the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) from publishing the results of the Group IV services examination which was conducted on July 7 this year.
Justice S. Nagamuthu passed the interim order on a petition by M. Chinnasamy and Murugan of Dharmapuri district. He ordered notice of admission.
In the petition, filed through counsel K. Balu, the petitioners said when they appeared for the examination they were shocked and surprised to find that the question paper booklet was improper. Instead of 200 questions, the booklet contained only 105 questions. Instead of the remaining 95, 59 questions had been reprinted. Hence, they were not able to answer the questions which were not printed. They brought this discrepancy to the knowledge of the TNPSC, but there was no proper reply. They said they had been deprived of the right to employment by the service commission. They made representations to the TNPSC to conduct a fresh examination, but there was no proper reply.
They prayed the court to quash the notification of April 27 this year calling for applications for Group IV services and the examination and consequently direct the authorities to conduct a fresh examination by providing a proper question paper booklet.
