Courier delivery boy held in robbery case

Thoothukudi police on Sunday arrested a courier delivery boy, A. Anjose (26) of Sixth Street at Lions Town here, who was allegedly involved a case of armed robbery.

The police also recovered two gold chains, weighing four and a half sovereigns, a ring, Rs. 3,000 and a knife from him and a two-wheeler used by him.

Investigations revealed that Anjose robbed a woman of the valuables at knifepoint when she was alone in her house located north of Muniyasamipuram under Thoothukudi South police limits.

Anjose was wearing a helmet when he committed the crime on July 22.

A police team, led by Thoothukudi South Inspector of Police Suresh Kumar, nabbed Anjose at PPMT junction here during a vehicle check .

While delivering goods to a neighbouring house of the woman victim on July 21, he noticed the woman living alone in the house, sources said. The accused was remanded in judicial custody.

Superintendent of Police Ashwin M. Kotnis congratulated the police team members and rewarded them.
