A couple, whose three daughters were affected by muscular dystrophy, staged a protest, seeking assistance, in the Collectorate here on Monday.

The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC) organised this ‘waiting agitation’. S. Namburajan, state general secretary of the association spoke. S. Rameshbabu, district president, led the protest. C.A.Selvam, district secretary was among the participants.

They demanded that assistance be provided to the family of Rajendran and Amutha of Keelpattu village in Polur taluk, whose three daughters are suffering from the disease. With that aid they could build special toilet for their children. Other demands include motorized vehicle for the affected daughters of the couple. The agitation was called off after the Collector A.Gnanasekaran agreed to sanction a toilet in a few days. . – Staff Reporter
