Couple murdered

In a fresh case, a couple were allegedly murdered in their house at Maipparai under Tiruvengadam police limits on Saturday evening. P. Jeyaraman (55) and his wife Dhanam Ammal (50) succumbed to injuries.

According to police, S. Muthalaraj (45) of Maipparai, a history-sheeter, who is at large, was the accused behind the incident. Irked over a love affair, Muthalaraj hacked them to death with a deadly weapon. Case is yet to be filed. Muthalaraj was involved in murder, attempt to murder cases and was also accused of harassing women.

Cases relating to these incidents were filed during 2010, police sources said.
