A couple were killed after a State-run bus knocked the two-wheeler on which they were riding near Mallankinaru on Monday evening.
The police identified the deceased as M. Karthikeyan (45), an insurance agent, and his wife, Nagalakshmi (40).
The police said that the couple were returning home in Andipatti near Pandalgudi after attending a temple function in Periya Perali. When they were proceeding near Varalotti, the bus proceeding from Kariyapatti to Virudhunagar hit the two-wheeler head on.
Both were killed on the spot. The Mallankinaru police have arrested the driver, K. Lingapandian (43) of Vachchakarapatti.
