NAGAPATTINAM: A couple committed suicide by hanging themselves because of a family dispute at Manalmedu near Mayiladuthurai on Thursday night.
The police said that Vinodh Kumar (25), a casual worker of Thalancheri near Manalmedu married Mutamizh Selvi (22) of the same area five years ago.
They leave behind two children. After a wordy quarrel, Mutamizh Selvi, in a fit of rage, had hanged herself at her house. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.
Her husband, who initially fled the house, later hanged himself from a tree near a paddy field. Police removed the bodies for postmortem. An RDO enquiry has been ordered.
