Cotton auctioned

Cotton worth Rs. 2 crore was auctioned at the weekly auction held at the Konganapuram branch of the Tiruchengode Agricultural Producers Cooperative Society on Friday.

While PT variety fetched a price ranging between Rs. 3,450 and Rs. 4,000 per bag; the DCH variety fetched a price between Rs. 4,350 and Rs. 4,820.

About 12,000 bags were auctioned for Rs. 2 crore, according to society sources.

Due to the heavy arrival of cotton, the society has proposed to hold auctioning on Sunday too, the source said.
