Salem corpn. floats tender for four new parks

The City Municipal Corporation has floated tender for establishing four green parks at a total cost of Rs. 1.93 crore.

The Corporation is one of the 32 cities/towns selected in the State for implementing schemes under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) which includes focusing on water supply, storm water drains, improving transport facilities, creating and upgrading green spaces. Under the scheme, four new parks were proposed to be established in the city at Ashok Nagar in Suramangalam Zone at Rs. 35.60 lakh, Sona Nagar in Hasthampatti Zone at Rs. 41.60 lakh, S.K. Township area in Ammapet zone at Rs. 51.26 lakh and at Ashok Nagar in Kondalampatti Zone at Rs. 65 lakh.

The parks would have basic amenities including drinking water, pavements for walking, toilet facilities and also various types of flowering plants in the premises. Also, a merry-go-round with six-seater facility, see-saw with four seater, sitting benches and other facilities would be in place in these parks so that residents can utilise it. Officials said that these parks are aimed at increasing green cover in the city and more such parks would be establishing in the coming years.

The last date for submission of tender document is till 3 p.m. on July 8 and the bids would be opened at 3.30 p.m. on the same day. The duration of completion of project is 180 days.
