Convicted govt. staff placed under suspension

VIRUDHUNAGAR

A day after the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Srivilliputtur convicted 12 government employees on a charge of siphoning ₹14.43 lakh from Small Savings account in the district, Virudhunagar Collector A. Sivagnanam on Thursday ordered the suspension of four employees working in various departments in the district.

The suspended employees are former junior assistants in the office of Personal Assistant to Collector (Small Savings) R. Mahalakhsmi (presently Assistant in Sattur union), Rajalakshmi (presently Assistant in the office of Assistant Director - Panchayats), and former extension officers in Small Savings Department K. Gnanasoundari and T. Krishnamoorthy, who are presently Deputy Block Development Officers in Vembakottai.

In a case booked by Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit in Virudhunagar, the CJM court had awarded three-year jail term and imposed a fine of ₹1.21 lakh on each of them.
