The State Government must immediately convene the Assembly to discuss issues concerning the Mullaperiyar Dam and the alleged attack on Tamil Nadu Public Works Department executive engineer A. Madhavan, PMK leader S. Ramadoss said here on Tuesday.
He told presspersons that it was important that the Government convene the Assembly so as to listen to political parties and to convey its sentiments to the Kerala Government and also the Central Government.
Convening the Assembly would send a strong signal to those trying to act against Tamil Nadu’s interests.
And, failing to convene the Assembly would send wrong signals and also lead to doubts if a government existed in the State.
Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam was unable to function as his hands were tied and there were too many power centres. There was no opportunity to showcase his administrative skills, he said and added that for the past 50 days he too had been entertaining the doubt if there existed a government in Tamil Nadu. Not convening the Assembly was also disrespect for the Opposition, Mr. Ramadoss added.
Ruling out ties with the BJP for the Assembly elections in the State, he said the situation at present in the State was not right for alliances.
In 2016 there would be a change in Government in the State, the two Dravidian parties that had alternately ruled for 47 years would be out and the PMK would form the next government.
And, when the PMK formed the government there would be total prohibition in Tamil Nadu.
Though the State was fighting for its rights against Kerala, it should look up to the neighbouring State to emulate the way the government there had introduced prohibition in phases.
In response to a question, he said anybody was welcome to join politics, float party and contest election and so was actor Rajnikanth.
Kamaraj ruleOn Congress leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan’s claim that the party would form the next government in Tamil Nadu, he said that the Congressmen had been claiming of establishing Kamaraj rule in the State for long.
