Almost all contract workmen of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation reported for duty on Saturday, with their 52-day-old strike coming to an end on Friday night, sources told The Hindu .
An agreement was reached at the tripartite talks mediated by the Deputy Chief Labour Commission (Central), K. Kandasamy, in Chennai.
The workers continued the strike even after the management obtained an interim injunction from the Madras High Court.
MoS to be signed on October 31
The minutes of Friday’s meeting were signed by N. Muthu, Chief General Manger; N. Balaji, General Manager (Human Resource); V. Soundararajan, Chief Manager; and the contract workmen’s wings of the LPF, the ATP, the CITU, the PTS, the LLF, the INTUC, the AIUTUC and the NLC Indcoserve Thozhilalar Uzhiyar Sangam, the NLC Contract Mazdoor Sangh and the Thozhlalar Vazhvurimai Sanga Peravai.
They also agreed that the Memorandum of Settlement be signed on October 31.
The power generation stood at 1,450 MW on Saturday against the installed capacity of 2,490 MW.
The sources said the maintenance of the conveyer system had been taken up and it would be a couple of days before the power plants operated full stream.
