Constable hacked to death

A police constable, Nagarathinam (35), attached to the Sattur Taluk police station, was hacked to death near Sattur on Tuesday night.

Nagarathinam, along with another policeman, was on bandobust duty at a temple function at O. Mettupatti when he was attacked with a machete.

He died while being taken to hospital.

The Superintendent of Police, D. Krishnamurthi, said that Kumar, an accused in a case, attacked the constable. The accused was absconding, he added.
