Cadres of the Congress party staged a demonstration in front of the Railway Junction here on Wednesday demanding immediate withdrawal of power tariff hike.

Led by the District Congress Committee Organiser, T.Krishnaswamy Vandayar, the protesters denounced the power tariff hike announced by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission and called upon the State government to get the tariff hike revoked.

District Youth Congress president Swaminathan, Shivaji Community Welfare Association president Sada Venkatraman, Congress traders' wing president Palaniappan, former district president Nanjil K.Varadarajan, and Kamaraj Desiya Peravai president Anbarasan took part.

KARUR:District president Subramanian led the Congress workers’ protest in Karur.

The government shouldn’t have hiked the tariff when industrial units were really struggling. It would also affect the common people to a great extent. The protestors also raised slogans against the government for increasing the power tariff.
