The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded a CBI probe into the allegation of corruption in the Medical and Health Department in the wake of dismissal of Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah on Sunday.

TPCC vice-president Md. Ali Shabbir at a press conference here on Monday described Dr. Rajaiah’s ouster from the Cabinet as an insult to all Dalits. He said although the Chief Minister has every right to induct or drop a minister from his Cabinet, the way Dr. Rajaiah was dismissed was highly objectionable.

The Chief Minister neither framed charges nor gave an opportunity to Minister to give his version.

The sudden dismissal was against the spirit of democracy and reflects the dictatorial attitude of KCR, he alleged. The senior Congress leader said people have a right to know the real reasons as to why the Chief Minister dismissed Dr. Rajaiah. “If the reason was corruption, the government should come out with the specific charges. Who else were involved in the scam?” he asked while demanding a CBI probe into the allegations. He said that the Congress party had welcomed when KCR ordered a CID probe alleging irregularities in the housing scheme during Congress regime. Similarly, KCR should now order a CBI probe in the medical scam. He pointed out that the TRS Government is being viewed with suspicion due to its questionable actions in recent past.

Mr. Shabbir took a dig at the Chief Minister stating that he openly encouraged defections.
