‘Confident Karnataka will file appeal in SC’

May 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - ERODE:

TNCC president E.V.K.S. Elangovan on Sunday expressed confidence that the Karnataka government would appeal against the acquittal of AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa from the disproportionate assets case within the specified time.

At a press conference here, Mr. Elangovan said he was not alone in faulting the Karnataka High Court special bench ruling and that he was prepared to face any defamation case over his criticism of the judgment.

Hoping that Governor K. Rosaiah would act in time on the several corruption complaints submitted by him against State Ministers, he once again threatened to disclose various other corruption cases with evidence.

‘Take action on Governor’

He also demanded that the Centre take action against Mr. Rosaiah and Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan for not walking out of the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa after a truncated National Anthem was played.

Join oath-taking slammed

Also, the joint oath-taking by Ministers was against law, he claimed, ridiculing the hurried conduct of the event.

The vacillation of State BJP leaders towards the AIADMK with complimentary statements about Ms. Jayalalithaa was indicative of the secret involvement between the two parties, he said.

Rahul may address meeting

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi may address a public meeting in support of farmers in Chennai during the second week of June, the TNCC president said.
