August 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 06:08 pm IST - SALEM:

Banks in the district should conduct special loan fairs from September 25 to October 2 to provide loans up to Rs. 50,000 to micro units under the Shishu scheme.

Chairing a consultative meeting with bank managers, District Collector V. Sampath said that banks should provide more loans to micro unit owners so as to encourage them.

He said that only if the loan facility was available easily, more entrepreneurs will come up to start new units.

The Collector said that the Centre has introduced new depository schemes, and asked the bankers to introduce them to prospective customers. He said that the pensioners’ list was sent to the banks to open accounts.

Officials of the Social Welfare Department should ensure that the list should reach the bank within a week, he added. He sought the cooperation of the banks to extend support for implementing the various schemes announced by the government.

Assistant General Manager of Indian Bank P. Thangavel, District Lead Bank Manager A. Udayakumar, and representatives of various banks and government officials participated.
