Complaint against Kamal Haasan

‘His tweet may instigate violence against democratically elected MLAs’

February 21, 2017 12:15 am | Updated 12:15 am IST - CHENNAI:

Functionaries of the Indian National League Party on Monday submitted a representation at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office seeking action against actor Kamal Haasan for his tweet on the recent developments in Tamil Nadu politics.

Stating that the actor had tweeted, “People of TamiL Nadu, welcome your respective MLAs with the respect they deserve back home,” the party alleged that the tweet may instigate violence against democratically elected legislators.

“As he is a big film star, his view may have an impact on the public and may be understood in a different way. Since the government was not formed as per his wish, the actor should not have posted a view that may instigate violence,” the complainant said.

“If anti-social elements, under the garb of public, indulge in violence against MLAs, the actor should take up the responsibility for the attacks,” the complainant said, asking the Police Commissioner to take action against the actor.
