Collector’s appeal to prevent waterborne diseases

December 14, 2010 03:17 pm | Updated 03:17 pm IST - TIRUVARUR:

The District Collector M. Chandrasekaran has appealed to the people to take precautionary measures to prevent water borne diseases.

In a press release issued here on Tuesday, the Collector said that any breach in drinking water pipeline or mixing of drainage water in the drinking water line should be brought to the notice of health inspectors. Any person who develops loose motion should be immediately taken to primary health centres and government hospitals and his or her relatives too should take treatment. People should avoid eating small fishes of ponds as it is very difficult to clean them. People should drain stagnating water around any drinking water pipeline. They should avoid open defecation and urination.

Collector's appeal comes in the wake of 141 mild diarrhoea cases reported in Muthupettai area in the district from December 9 to December 13.
