The interiors and signage for the underground stretch of Chennai Metro Rail from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park are still not complete in some stations, sources said. Officials of Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), who inspected the the stations, said officials of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) have promised to finish the work in a few days.

“We have to look at a few other safety features in some stations and that will be done on Friday. We have taken down a few issues, which we will discuss and send a note to the CMRL. But, there have been no major problems from what we have observed,” an official of the CMRS said.

The team inspected the tunnels and tracks in seven stations from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park. When asked if vibrations of trains were within permissible levels, he said the CMRL has carried out a study and he would be able to comment only after analysing it.

He added that the certificate of approval would be sent within a week, after which the stretch would be ready for operations.
